Eastern Harmony Mental Health was created from years of community work and cultural events where families gathered, celebrated, and connected — but rarely spoke openly about mental health. We saw that many individuals struggled silently, not because help did not exist, but because the first step felt too difficult.
Our Mission
0% Suicide Rate: Our vision is a future where suicide is preventable and mental health support is accessible early, before crisis occurs
Eastern Harmony Mental Health is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to improving mental health access within Asian American communities in Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County.
Through culturally trusted community engagement and partnerships with cities and local organizations, we help individuals and families connect to existing mental health resources earlier—before challenges escalate into crisis.
Who we are
Mental health services exist across County and State systems, yet many Asian American individuals and families do not access support early due to:
Stigma
Language barriers
Lack of culturally familiar entry points
As a result, people often enter the system only during crisis situations—reducing opportunities for prevention and early intervention.
The Challenge
Why Community-Based Entry Points Matter
Traditional outreach often misses individuals who are not already connected to healthcare or social service systems.
Culturally familiar and trusted community environments can reduce barriers and help families engage earlier.
Through large-scale cultural festivals, family programs, and community partnerships, Eastern Harmony reaches thousands of individuals each year who may not otherwise engage with traditional mental health outreach.
We create trusted community entry points through:
Community engagement through cultural and wellness events
Family Support Groups and community conversations
Resource navigation and partnerships with existing providers
Important: Eastern Harmony serves as a community engagement and access partner and does not provide clinical or treatment services.
Our Role in the System
Eastern Harmony works alongside public systems, healthcare providers, and community organizations as an early engagement partner, helping communities connect to existing services sooner.
What we do
We measure success through community-level early engagement, including:
Increased engagement with mental health information and resources
First-time exposure to support options among participants
Increased interest in follow-up resources or referrals
Improved early engagement prior to crisis-level intervention
Families seeking help earlier
Increased conversations
What Success Looks Like
By improving early access and engagement, Eastern Harmony strengthens community trust networks and supports public systems in reaching communities earlier.
Over time, this model can be replicated across additional communities facing similar cultural and access barriers.
